What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep Apnea is a condition where your breathing stops and starts repeatedly while you sleep. This can disrupt your sleep cycle, leaving you feeling tired even after a full night’s rest. It often leads to loud snoring, and in severe cases, it can cause you to gasp for air during sleep. If you’re waking up feeling more tired than you were before going to bed, Sleep Apnea might be the reason.

Causes of Sleep Apnea
  • Throat muscles relaxing and blocking the airway during sleep.
  • Excess weight, particularly fat around the neck area.
  • Chronic nasal congestion or other breathing issues.
  • Alcohol consumption, especially before bed, which relaxes throat muscles.
  • Smoking, which can inflame and block the airway.
  • Family history of Sleep Apnea.
Symptoms of Sleep Apnea
  • Loud snoring, often followed by periods of silence due to paused breathing.
  • Gasping for air or choking during sleep.
  • Waking up with a dry mouth or sore throat.
  • Morning headaches.
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness or feeling tired despite a full night’s sleep.
  • Difficulty focusing or mood swings throughout the day.
